Hot Wheels and Atari came together and we created this mini arcade game package for Asteroids. Proof that a great Imagination translates into great design. This custom item gained additional resources from the marketing budget to make it a go from a standard blister card package, to a mini stand up video game with lights and sounds, upgrading it from a mainline item to a Comic Con Exclusive! Originally, the item was not supposed to get the deluxe packaging
or lights and sounds. Hot Wheels Asteroids ended up having LED lighting and conductive ink, to allow the black lighting to illuminate the paper screen to show actual game captures. It even plays actual sounds from the game when you push the button on the control panel!
